Just a year ago, we started working with children at Gummalapuram Panchayat School to strengthen their foundational literacy skills.
Last week, the same children confidently explained space missions, galaxies, and the solar system to parents and visitors in a vibrant Space Science Fair, organized by Aikya trust and school.
Here’s what students and teachers built together to transform school campus into a space experience.
~ A Chandrayaan-3 mission project with a miniature launch pad, Vikram lander, and Pragyan rover exploring the moon’s surface.
~ A space station model explaining how astronauts live in space.
~ Children dressed as planets, explaining the solar system.
~ Displays on space history, discoveries, and mysteries of the universe.
One of the most magical experiences was the Dark Room Galaxy, where visitors stepped into a simulated universe to witness stars, planets, and galaxies glowing in the darkness.
For all these village children, this was their first opportunity to explore space science through hands-on learning, creativity, and storytelling. Sometimes, all it takes is just one opportunity for a child to start dreaming big.
