The result of National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS), Karnataka exam for 2024-25 was released last week and we are proud to share that 3 of our students have qualified for the scholarship. Each one of them will receive a scholarship of Rs. 48,000 over the period of next 4 years.
Aikya teachers started coaching Class 8 students for NMMS 24-25 last year; this was our first engagement in NMMS space (no one qualified for NMMS scholarship the previous year 23-24 in the school). Despite knowing the fact that students significantly lack foundational numeracy skills and there is a good chance that no one can make it to the scholarship, Aikya teachers did not give up on students and continued their effort with a lot of commitment. They even accompanied students on exam day (Sunday, Feb 2nd) to boost their confidence and ensured necessary food arrangements in 4 hour long exam.
We hope that many of the underprivileged children we are supporting will eventually excel in academics and break the generational cycle of poverty.
At Aikya, we do not believe in race culture; we recognized and celebrated the sincere effort and hard work of all our students, regardless of the outcome.
