Science lab – GHPS Old Anekal

Earlier this week, children at our Anekal school, Bengaluru successfully implemented a mini sprinkler irrigation system for their kitchen garden.

The children typically grow leafy vegetables in the garden, but they were facing challenges in watering the plants effectively. Manual watering was not only time-consuming but also led to water wastage and uneven distribution, impacting plant growth and quality. To solve this problem, children implemented an automated water sprinkler system, ensuring efficient use of water and uniform distribution of water to plants for optimal growth.

In the process, children learned many valuable lessons. They now understand the correlation between water pump capacity and the area it can cover, different types of pumps and sprinkler sizes available in the market, how much water can be saved compared to traditional methods. These kinds of insights go far beyond what textbooks alone can provide.

At Aikya, we strongly believe that hands-on experiments and problem-solving approach are essential life skills. They foster creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.

To maximize the learning outcome, we have set up a Jr. science lab (and some tinkering material) at Anekal School, encouraging children to explore and try out things practically
