Teachers’ Day Celebration at Anekal school

On September 5th, we celebrated Teachers’ Day at Anekal school, Bengaluru.

At Aikya, we have a committed team of 7 teachers. Their journey over the past one and a half years has been both challenging and inspiring. While teaching their core subjects, they had to also bridge significant learning gaps by focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy.

Every day for the last 18 months, they have been conducting daily 45 minute bridge classes in English and Math to help students reach age-appropriate learning levels first. In the process, some students have advanced so well that we felt confident of enrolling them in this year’s Olympiad exam for English, Math, and Science. We’ve registered 35 students (27 of them girls) for the Olympiad, a proud milestone for all of us and our supporters.

Teachers’ effort goes beyond the classroom. Understanding the unique challenges faced by the children’s families, our teachers have been organizing parent-teacher meetings as early as 7 AM on Saturdays—and sometimes even on Sundays, to accommodate the schedule of daily-wage workers.

With all the effort, we are now seeing not just steady progress, but remarkable transformations in our students. None of this would have been possible without the patience, commitment, and personal sacrifices of our teachers. They are the backbone of Aikya’s mission to deliver quality education to underprivileged children.

We remain deeply humbled and grateful for their invaluable contributions.
